At Environmental Africa, we believe in the power of storytelling for a more resilient, sustainable and connected Africa. We believe there are stories worth telling in every person and every community - whether in writing, video, audio, art, or by any other creative means.

We seek human stories that inform and inspire. We are open to a broad range of topics and projects that relate to the environment, social well-being and sustainable livelihoods in local African communities, whether the focus is on energy, water, food, ecosystems or other - surprise us!

Whether you are a seasoned writer/creator or not at all, we encourage you to reach out to us to pitch a story. Our editors will work with you to create content you can be proud of and to amplify your voice, online and in the communities we work with.

To pitch a story:

If you have a story to tell, contact us at sustainability@environmentalafrica.com, indicating in 300-400 words:

• The main theme: what issues, solutions or projects will you be discussing?
• The geographical focus: what community will you be highlighting?
• The format: do you envision a written piece or another form of content?
• The intention: why is this story important to you and what do you hope it will bring about?

In addition, please present yourself in 100-200 words:

• What do you do?
• What do you care about?
• Do you have any previous experience creating content? If you do, include a few links to past publications (articles, audio, video, art, …). 

We respond to everyone and aim to do so within 2 weeks of receiving a pitch.

Please note that at the moment, we are not offering payment for published stories. However, our comprehensive editorial support gives writers valuable researching and writing skills. In addition, published stories reach a wide audience that can interact directly with authors.
